When I was a kid, my dad loved Christmas; it was his favorite time of the year. He would go to the grocery store and buy toys for less fortunate children. We would deliver them together during the holiday season. Joy is what my sisters and I witnessed those days. If i close my eyes, I can still see the big smiles on those children's faces. It stayed with me my whole life.
I was born and raised in a small Brazilian neighborhood, the less fortunate were not far at all. In fact, they were just down the street - favelas (or shanty towns) were a part of my childhood landscape.
Now I have 2 children on my own.
I always remember my dad's generous example... How can I be a good example to my children, to inspire them to give back as they grew too?
The Portrait Project is my answer:
A PHOTO SESSION THAT GIVES BACK.
Since 2016, I have been offering portrait sessions for which all proceeds go towards purchasing new toys for children in need during the holidays. Thus far, The Portrait Project has given over 700 toys!
